Benefits of Acai Berry Detox
I’m sure that by now you have heard of acai berry. There is much to know and learn about the healthy benefits of the acai berry. Acai berry is one of the elite superfoods with anti-aging and weight loss benefits. However, is there scientific evidence to support the claims of the acai berry?
The acai berry is a red/purple fruit. It comes from Central and South America. The fruit resembles a cranberry, or a blueberry.
Research on the acai berry has focused on its possible antioxidant activity. Theoretically, that activity may help prevent diseases caused by oxidative stress such as heart disease and cancer. Is the acai berry healthy?
Acai contains several substances called anthocyanins and flavonoids.
The anthocyanins and flavonoids found in the acai berry are powerful antioxidants that defend the body against stress. They also help protect the cell protection system. Byproducts produced by the body are known as free radicals. These free radicals are neutralized by eating a diet rich in antioxidants and may help with aging.
It is said that the pulp of the acai berry has a high antioxidant capacity. The acai berry pulp is said to have even more antioxidant content than the cranberry, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, or even blueberry.
The acai berry is consumed to day to help various health conditions. So, far there have been no tests that have shown any extra health benefits that are any different than similar fruits.
Although only a few studies have been done, none of these have actually shown that acai berry promotes weight loss. Studies are still being made for the acai berry to determine if there are extra health benefits. Some of these benefits include: cancer deterrent, weight loss, brain health, lower cholesterol.
For now, plenty of research supports eating a diet rich in antioxidants. Theres no doubt that berries and other fruits are a key part of any healthy diet promoting weight loss. The jurys still out on whether there is something special about acais ability to shed excess pounds.
